Become a Driver

Welcome to Akire—a driver-first rideshare platform serving North Alabama. We prioritize fair pay, flexibility, and safety for our drivers. If you're ready to drive on your terms, here’s what you need to know to get started.

To ensure a seamless experience for both drivers and passengers, Akire requires all drivers to maintain current and valid documentation. Failure to update any required document before its expiration date may result in temporary deactivation.

Required Documents

  • Driver Profile Photo: Clear, forward-facing, no sunglasses or hats.
  • Vehicle Registration: Must be current and valid.
  • Personal Vehicle Insurance: Must meet Alabama’s minimum requirements.
  • Alabama Vehicle Inspection: Completed by an ASE or AATI certified mechanic.

Your vehicle must meet the following criteria:

  • Model Year: 2011 or newer
  • Doors: 4-door vehicle
  • Seating Capacity: 5–8 seats (including the driver)
  • Vehicle Type: No taxis, stretch limos, or non-Akire rentals
  • Title Status: Cannot be salvage, non-repairable, rebuilt, or equivalent

To be eligible to drive with Akire, you must:

  • Be at least 25 years old
  • Hold a valid driver’s license (temporary or out-of-state accepted)
  • Pass a background check (driving history + criminal record)
  • Own a smartphone compatible with the Akire Driver App

All vehicles must be inspected by an ASE or AATI certified mechanic.

Steps:

  1. Download the Inspection Form: Available via the Akire Driver App or website
  2. Visit a Certified Mechanic: Use the form provided for the inspection
  3. Upload Completed Form: Go to the app > Account > Documents

Per Alabama law, all drivers must carry liability insurance with at least:

  • Bodily Injury: $25,000 per person / $50,000 per accident
  • Property Damage: $25,000 per accident

✅ Ensure your insurance policy meets these standards and that you always have proof of insurance in your vehicle.

Moving to Alabama:

You can continue driving with Akire. Just update your license and registration to reflect your new address.

Moving from Alabama:

Update your location via the Akire Driver App to stay compliant in your new area.
